PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

A.  Pemakaian

Past perfect continuous tense digunakan untuk menerangkan hal ang sudah terjadi dan masih berlangsung pada waktu lampau.

B.  Struktur Kalimat

Dalam penyusunan kalimat Past perfect continuous tense, kita harus menggunakan had been dan kata kerja (invinitive) berakhiran –ing.

Subject+had+been+-ing+Object

Example:

I had been sitting until midnight

You had been fishing all the day yesterday

He had been studying arc for a long time

Jim was out of breath. He had been running along the street.

She had been waiting for twenty minutes when john came

Diana said that she had been sewing

We had been playing chess when Nelson rang the bell

They had been sailing for three days when they reached the small island

It had been snowing for several hours when we awoke

I had been having a rest before dinner Yesterday

John had been working for five hours when the clock struck one

Tom said that he had been playing tennis with George before he met Helen

Mr.Lee said that he had been reading a book all morning
