5. SIMPLE PAST TENSE
A.  PEMAKAIAN

Simple Past tense di gunakan untuk menerangkan peristiwa yang terjadi beberapa saat yang lalu atau pada masa lampau.

B.  STRUKTUR KALIMAT

Dalam menyusun kalimat Past Tense, kita menggunakan kata kerja verb II.

Subject+VerbII+Object

*Biasaya, Past Tense disertai dengan waktu yang jelas, misalnya yesterday, last (last week, last year, last Sunday), ago (a few minutes ago, two years ago, three days ago), this morning.

Example:

1.      I saw Paul yesterday

2.      He went to the party last night

3.      She bought a bag the day before yesterday

4.      You worked hard last Monday

5.      They arrived this morning

6.      We met Jack a few minutes ago

7.      It rained heavily last night

8.      Tom cleaned the house yesterday morning

9.      Mr. Robinson died two years ago

10. You slept well last night

11. They got married in 1999

12. They built the house last year

13. I Sent the letter the day before yesterday

14. You hurt Susan this morning

15. He want camping last April

16. Maria left school six months ago

17. Andrew Swam in the sea last Saturday

*Jika kalimat tidak menggunakan kata kerja, kita menggunakan was dan were.
